Anybody catch the game last night? I apologize if you are a Denver Nuggets fan. The defending NBA Champions were completely dominated by the Minnesota Timberwolves. Final Score 106-80.
I was once skeptical, but the Minnesota Timberwolves are serious contenders. Who knows if they can win the whole thing this year, but they are a team built for it.

Let’s start with defense. The Timberwolves defense was incredible last night. They continuously forced the Nuggets into hard contested shots. On numerous occasions the Nuggets were unable to even get a shot off and turned the ball over after shot clock violations. The Timberwolves defense rotates well, closes out on shots, and their effort level is elite. Let us not forget, the Timberwolves didn’t even have Rudy Gobert last night who is one of the best defenders in the entire league.
Anthony Edwards is elite! Edwards was the best player on the court last night and has been all series long. He is truly a special player that a team can build around. On the season, he averaged 25.9 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 5.1 assists per game. He is playing at this level at only 22 years of age. I wouldn’t be surprised if a year or two down the road he is viewed as the best player in all of basketball.
The Timberwolves have their own version of the “Twin Towers” in Rudy Gobert and Karl Anthony Towns. That combination of size and skill is simply unmatched in the NBA. In Gobert, they have a top defender who can still contribute offensively and personally I think Towns is as good as any other big man in all of basketball. Most teams get by with one of these players, the Wolves have two!
The Timberwolves are for real, and they aren’t going anywhere. They will be contenders for years to come.
